Middle School Director
Emily Westfaul is the band director at Vancleave Middle School. Growing up in Vancleave, Ms. Westfaul is 100% a product of the Vancleave Band Program. Her own musical education began in the VMS band under the direction of Cheryl Whitt. During her time as a student in the Vancleave Band Program, she had the honor being the French Horn section leader her Junior and Senior year, and she was placed as the 1st chair French Horn of the VHS Wind Ensemble.
During the summer prior to her Junior year, Ms. Westfaul auditioned for and attended the French Horn Summer Institute at Interlochen Arts Academy where she learned from world-renowned teachers such as William VerMeulen, Principle Horn of the Houston Symphony and the horn professor at Rice University. Upon completing high school, Ms. Westfaul was awarded the John Philip Sousa award.
Her Bachelors in Music Education was earned at William Carey University. At WCU, Ms. Westfaul performed with the Symphonic Winds as Principle Horn, Spirit of Carey, Jazz 1, Chorale Orchestra, Evidence Winds, and in numerous chamber ensembles under the direction of Dr. Wes Dykes, Dr. Jeremy Morgan, Mr. Jim Armstrong, and Mr. Zachary Harris. Ms. Westfaul served as both a Section Leader and High Brass Captain for the Spirit Of Carey. During her time as a member of Evidence Winds, she competed and placed at WGI World Championships Finals. In 2018, Ms Westfaul auditioned and was selected as a member of the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps in Allentown, PA.
Currently, she is a student of Liberty University, working towards her Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership. She looks forward to completing her degree in 2023.
Ms. Westfaul is engaged to Luke Roberts, and they will be getting married this November in the Tennessee Smoky Mountains.
